Mixed Media
Where Layers Tell the Story
The Mixed Media collection is exactly what it sounds like — and then some. Each piece in this collection is built from multiple visual elements assembled into a single cohesive scene: vintage ephemera, architectural drawings, decorative scrollwork, botanical illustrations, document textures, and hand-selected focal imagery, all combined through a modular layering process developed over years of digital studio work.
The result is artwork that rewards a second look. There's always something happening in the background — a fragment of a blueprint, a postmark, a curl of baroque ornament — and something anchoring the foreground that ties it all together.
About the Volumes
The Mixed Media collection is organized into themed volumes, each containing seven images (with one noted exception below). Volumes 01 and 02 are composed entirely of hand-crafted digital work — no AI-generated elements. Beginning with Volume 03, partial AI assistance is used in the creation of select elements, and that is noted here so you always know what you're getting.About the Volumes

* Volume 01 — Baroque architecture, Gothic ornament, heraldic imagery, and compass rose motifs in a dramatic crimson and black palette.
* Volume 02 — (description pending your notes or a thumbnail)
* Volume 03 — Regal animal portraiture meets vintage ephemera. Expect crowned cats in full regalia, layered over sheet music and aged document textures. Volumes 03–05 incorporate partial AI-generated elements.
* Volume 04 — Romantic florals in blush and cream, cascading over vintage postcard and ledger backgrounds with antique clock and stationery accents.
* Volume 05 — A six-image volume for now. This one wanders — from a flower-adorned pink scooter set against currency ephemera to a Chinese junk sailing under a full moon past the Declaration of Independence. Volume 05 will also be featured in the Journaling Digital Downloads section once that storefront is up and running. The seventh image is on its way.
Mixed Media - Volume 01 The background is built from layered ink stamp elements — Gothic architectural details, baroque damask motifs, and ornamental scrollwork — printed in deep crimson and black on white, giving it that aged, heraldic quality. The central compass rose and crown are your original illustrations placed over that stamped background.
Mixed Media Volume 02
Volume 02 takes its aesthetic cues from a deceptively simple idea: what if the canvas was already covered in something? The pieces in this volume are built to evoke the look of paintings on newsprint — original illustrations and Jacquard-style ornamental work rendered over layered currency and document ephemera, letting the background breathe through the imagery rather than disappear beneath it. The pink Vespa-style scooter adorned with original botanical illustrations is a perfect example: equal parts whimsy and vintage commerce, grounded by that signature muted, ink-on-paper palette. Every element in Volume 02 — illustrations, florals, and decorative motifs — is original hand-crafted digital work. No AI elements were used in this volume.
Mixed Media Volume 03
Volume 03 is for the cat people — and the cats know it. This volume pairs AI-generated feline portraiture with the same layered vintage ephemera backgrounds that run through the Mixed Media collection: sheet music, aged ledger text, and decorative damask stamp elements assembled into a richly textured backdrop. The cats themselves are rendered in full regalia — crowns, robes, gold medallions — with the kind of unblinking composure that suggests they've always known they deserved a portrait. The AI-generated imagery and hand-assembled backgrounds work together here in a way that feels less like a technical collaboration and more like a formal sitting. The cats were clearly ready. This volume contains partial AI-generated elements.
Mixed Media Volume 04
Volume 04 is unabashedly romantic — and makes no apologies for it. Cascading blush peonies and delicate white blossoms spill across layered vintage ephemera backgrounds: postcard grids, aged ledger text, ornamental scrollwork, and the occasional pocket watch and binder clip keeping things grounded in the everyday. The florals are AI-generated and deliberately lush, the kind of overblown abundance that feels more Dutch Golden Age than digital. If you've ever wanted to frame something that looks like it was found pressed between the pages of a very elegant old diary, this is the volume for you. Age has nothing to do with it — good taste doesn't have an expiration date. This volume contains partial AI-generated elements.
Mixed Media Volume 05
Volume 05 takes the collection somewhere unexpected — out to sea. Each of the six pieces in this volume features an AI-generated Chinese junk under a full moon, paired with a single Chinese character representing a universal aspiration: Prosperity, Destiny, Beauty, Luck, Longevity, and Happiness. The backgrounds shift from piece to piece — US postage ephemera, sheet music, Declaration of Independence text, vintage document layers — Eastern imagery sailing through distinctly Western waters. It's a quiet conversation about two cultures that have more in common than current headlines suggest. This volume currently contains six images; the seventh is forthcoming. Volume 05 will also be available as digital downloads in the upcoming Journaling collection. This volume contains partial AI-generated elements.
